What’s the big picture?

Expensure ( http://expensure.com ) is a web and mobile-based service that helps people track, manage and resolve their shared flat/travel bills and expenses.

Who is the service aimed at?

The service is aimed in particular at 18-34s as the demographic heavily occupy the travel and rental markets, and are both early and high adopters of using web and mobile services to help organise and manage their lives.

A user will most likely discover the app through a recommendation from friends, though word of mouth, or by way of an invite from an existing user whilst studying, flatting or travelling.

How does Expensure work?

You can set up a ledger for their household or holiday and add your shared purchases and repayments to it. The service has a Circular Debt Resolution™ algorithm that resolves these shared debts for you by looking at who you owe money to, who owes you money, and what money these other people owe to each other. The algorithm then groups all of these transactions together and works out which debts cancel each other out, and what is the simplest way to clear any outstanding amounts using the least number of transactions within a group of people; so that it's never the case that money goes from hand to hand in a circle.

Are there other interesting things I should know?

Expensure also has collaborative shopping/supply lists to add all of your flat/travel necessities to, which is super useful when you are planning a trip abroad or even just to a local supermarket; helping your household or holiday run more smoothly.

Yes, providing you can access the internet you can use Expensure. Expensure was designed with both web and mobile in mind from day one and works seamlessly across both.

What’s the business model?

Right now we are focusing on creating a great service with a great user experience, and on growing our user base. As we develop our relationship more with our users we will look at how we can add value to their experience in a manner that is both contextually relevant and befitting to their travel and flatting needs.

What’s the funding status of the company?

Expensure has been self-funded by Harmonypark. Harmonypark is a privately-held London-based company that innovates and incubates mobile and web services that are designed to help people simplify and personalise an increasingly complex and impersonal world.
